Kundi (Pashtun tribe)

The Kundi (Urdu: کنڈی ) are a Pashtun tribe hailing mainly from the Tank District of the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province, and also in kundian isa khel mianwali district in the punjab province of pakistan some parts of Balochistan, Pakistan. Their lineage links with the Marwat tribe.
Late Justice Faizullah Khan Kundi is known in Pakistan for his public service - Faizuallah Kundi served as a senior judge in Peshawar High Court; the highest court of the province Khyber Paktunkhwa, in the legislature and in various public service roles after retirement from the judiciary. Mohammad Ishaq Khan Kundi, deputy speaker of West Pakistan Assembly (1962-1965) is one of the most famous members of the tribe. Other notable Kundis are Justice Abdul Karim Khan Kundi (former Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court), Abdul Hakim Khan Kundi (former Vice Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council), Abdul Mateen Kundi (Software Engineer, Cosmosoft Business Solutions), Haisum Javed Kundi (Software Engineer, iLead Integrated Solutions) and Habib Ullah Khan Kundi (former NWFP Provincial Minister).
A more recent well-known personality is Faisal Kareem Kundi, who defeated Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman in the 2008 National Assembly elections and was elected Deputy Speaker on March 19, 2008, jointly by PPP and Pakistan Muslim League.
Kundi are also present in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hold prestigious roles - both in the public and private sector.
Engineer Dawar Khan Kundi is an elected MNA from Tank, who defeated the son of Maulana Fazlurrehman in 2013 bi election.
Mansoor Akbar Kundi is a Ph.D doctor and professor is a prominent educationist. He was a scholar on Pakistan Chair at Istanbul University, Turkey. He remained dean of faculty of social sciences in Balochistan university Quetta, Vice Chancellor Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan, and Executive Director Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
